Freedom

We in this great nation still have many wonderful blessings going for us. Sometimes when I watch the news on the television, or listen to the radio, I have to remind myself about this truth and count my blessings, and it makes me thankful. We are still free in the U.S.A. We have individuality, a wonderful blessing - the freedom to be who we want to be. We have the right to vote and the right to protest. We have the freedom of speech, and so many other freedoms, including the freedom of religion.

The freedom of religion is the most important freedom we have. Our freedom to worship God is what preserves this nation. Just look at what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah in Gen.18-19. In Gen.18:16-33, it tells how God would have spared the cities if Abraham would have been able to find 10 righteous individuals. Abraham tried, but unfortunately for the people of Sodom and Gomorrah, he wasn’t able. All it would have taken is 10 righteous people, and the cities would have been preserved.

Proverbs 14:34 says, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” We need to keep God’s Word in the Bible working in our lives. It needs to be passed on to the next generation. The further we get away from it, the bigger the problems are that result from our own neglect. “The buck stops here”, with us, the parents. School shootings were unheard of when we were kids in school. We didn’t need to talk about arming teachers and even some of the students. We didn’t need armed guards and chains on the doors, and we didn’t have any reasons to be afraid to go to school. Why are these things so different today? Is this progress?

We at the La Crosse church of Christ want to offer our services to the surrounding community. We meet for worship every Sunday at 10 am at the Southside Neighborhood Center at 1300 S. 6th st. in La Crosse. Our Bible classes are for all ages and are from 11 am to 12 pm. We want to build up our classes for kids this summer. In Matt. 19:14 Jesus said,”Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven”. He was saying children are innocent. They are teachable, but they must be taught. They must be allowed to come unto Him before the ruler of this world can get to them. The Bible is their only hope, just as it is the only hope for the rest of us. The Bible is our only creed in the La Crosse church of Christ, and our only doctrine and authority. It is all we teach and practice for matters of faith. Matters of opinion are just that, and we support, encourage, and appreciate the freedom of individuality all the while we uphold and defend the doctrine of Christ and His apostles.

If we can be of service to you and/or your family, please call. We offer Bible classes for all ages and free transportation.
